Coalition

Coalition is a niche social media platform exclusively for gamers. Built around a deep understanding of gaming culture, the app helps players connect, share content, find partners, and discuss games in a community designed just for them.
Problem
Gamers often struggle to find people to play with, especially those who match their interests, skill level, or schedule. Existing platforms are fragmented and not built with gamers’ social needs in mind, leading to feelings of isolation and missed opportunities for meaningful connection.
Outcome
Coalition helps gamers connect through chats, shared interests, and tailored communities. It reduces isolation and makes it easier to find people to play with, all within a space designed just for gamers.

Dashboard

  • The homepage serves as the central hub of Coalition, showcasing both personal and community-driven content.

  • Users can view friends’ updates, game highlights, and achievements, while also discovering trending posts from wider gaming communities.

  • This blend of personalised and community-focused feeds makes it easy for gamers to stay connected, celebrate milestones, and engage with the broader gaming culture in one place.

Community

  • The Community feature brings players together around their favourite games. Each community acts as a dedicated space where members can follow updates, share content, and join discussions.

  • To encourage collaboration, the feature also includes a ‘Find a Squad’ tool, allowing users to easily connect with teammates based on their rank, interests, or availability.

  • This creates a balance between social engagement and practical matchmaking, making it easier for gamers to feel part of a vibrant, active group.

Clips

  • The Clips section gives players a space to share short-form gaming highlights, in a feed that feels familiar but tailored to gaming culture.

  • Scrolling is fast and seamless, letting users quickly discover new content and engage with other gamers through likes, comments, and shares.

Chats

  • Chats allow players to keep conversations with friends and groups all in one place, designed with a clean interface.

  • The Friend Sync tool eliminates the hassle of coordinating game times by letting players share availability on a calendar directly inside the chat.

Profile3.png

Profile

  • The profile combines a social feed with a gamer’s identity, letting players share photos, setups, and in-game moments while also showing off their ranks and achievements.

  • The about section highlights the games someone plays, their skill levels, and their connected accounts, making it easier to add them across different platforms.

User research
findings & results

1.

84% of Gen Z gamers say video games help them connect with like-minded people

2.

Gamers regularly hop across platforms - Discord (37%), TikTok (37%), Twitch (29%), Instagram (34%), and Reddit (23%)- for social interaction, content, and community.

3.

Most gamers prefer playing with people they already know or feel emotionally connected to, rather than relying on random matchmaking - which often leads to frustration, toxicity, or lack of synergy.

1. How might we help gamers share and discover content in a way that feels true to gaming culture?

2. How might we make scheduling play sessions with friends quick and easy?

3. How might we design profiles that show identity while making connections simple?
